Had 11 fish prior to this one with 5 over 5lbs

Fishing with Power Tackle Rod PT-104 from Texas Boat World

C-Rig with one ounce weight and 5 foot leader

When she bit, I felt her swing her tail and she move my line 5 foot to the side

I reeled down, set the hook and just held on

She came straight to the top and cleared the water by 3 feet

I immediately told my fishing partner (Ed) to reel in and I will take care of landing the fish

She made two more jumps closer to the boat and that is when I realized it was probably a new lake record and also seen she was stuck very good, right in the upper lip through the tuff stuff

I backed off the drag and wore her out and then just got her to the side of the boat and lipped her

Lipping the fish was easy, her lower lip was like grabbing a screen door handle

We weighted her with some hand held scales and she pulled the spring down to 12.5 and a dash

We then took her to the marina were she weighed 12.69 on the scales used on Wednesday nights

Then we took her to L&R meat market in Belton for certified weight of 12.74 lbs

We then took her back to the marina, put her in a tank to try to insure she will survive. I worked with her over 2 hours holding her level in the tank, but unfortunately she did pass away.
